It's almost been a week since the house became ours, and we've encountered our first "surprise." As I mentioned in my previous post, we are making a few adjustments before moving in. One of those is updating the tile in the guest bathroom. Here is what we started with...
.
.
Mind you, the original plan was only to slap a little paint on the walls, update the tile, and put in new sink and tub/shower fixtures. The demo started yesterday, and apparently it's going to be a teensy bit more labor intensive than we thought. When the workers started pulling up the old tile on the floor, they discovered...wait for it...
.
.
A completely rotten subfloor. Awesome. This basically means that the wood AND the tub have to be replaced before they can even start on the tile. UGH! I am choosing to focus on the fact that, had we not decided to have this work done, we might not have known that the floor was rotten. It really could've been a lot worse - like if a wet naked guest crashed through the ceiling into the living room. I think that would be worse.
.
I am also choosing to focus on what the finished product looks like in my imagination. In case you're interested, here are the particulars.
.
This is the new tile and wall color that will go in (eventually):
.
I had a chance to go into another house that is being finished right now and take a look at the same tile that had already been installed in the master bath shower. PRETTY!
.
We are going to use the same fixtures as the ones above except we will (eventually) have the standard tub/shower combo.
.
Why am I starting to feel like Shelley Long and Tom Hanks in that movie...oh...what was it called?? Oh. Right. Nevermind. Grab your popcorn. Who knows what will happen next.
